Centralized Scheduling/Surgery Scheduler

Revenue Cycle Department. Full-time position (40 hours per week). Works 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday. Will be cross-trained in scheduling/patient registration. Maintains and updates computer-scheduling files. Must speak clearly and be congenial and polite at all times in person and over the phone. Efficiently navigates the scheduling system and is agile with changes. Must be familiar with policies regarding scheduling of ancillary tests and appointments, maintaining current patient information and records, and maintaining strict confidentiality. Must be familiar with admitting, discharging, insurance forms, confidentiality of patient information and dealing with the public. General office experience preferred, but not required. Must have a thorough knowledge of the switchboard and filing system, all clinic policies and procedures to clinic office, and hospital scheduling protocol. High school diploma or equivalent required.

Business Office Manager

Business Office. – Full time (40 hours per week) exempt position. Works Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Plans, organizes, and directs all functions of the patient-billing department. Position will administer programs of patient accounting, insurance processing, credit systems, and government reimbursement programs. Position will also be responsible to supervise patient billing staff and accounts receivable staff. Three to five years’ experience in healthcare billing, admissions, or credit and collections of which at least two years is supervisory preferred. Will consider individuals with background in healthcare insurance industry or credit agency industry. Associate’s degree or equivalent experience required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

RN Health Coach

Rural Health Clinic. Full-time position (36 hours per week). Works four days Monday through Friday 7:30 am to 5:00 pm; rotates Saturdays. The medical home health coach (MHHC) supports the patient-centered medical home (PCMH) by working with patients, families, providers, other providers and staff to promote timely access to needed care, providing daily continuity of care coordination and coaching patients, families, and caregivers to understand the patient’s care plan and self-care management responsibilities. Is of prime importance in helping the medical provider respond successfully to the increasing demands for his/her services. Is the essential link between the medical provider and his/her patients, professional associates, and equipment and medical suppliers. Delivers patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Assists in the patient teaching activities and maintains the standards of a professional nurse. Performs various laboratory and radiologic procedures and is responsible for the documentation of the results of these. Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing program possessing a current Iowa Nursing license. Must either be certified in CPR or obtain certification during the first three months of employment.

Food Service Worker

Dietary Department. Part-time position (32 hours per week). Works four 8-hour shifts with times ranging between 6:00 am – 7:00 pm. Works every third weekend; rotates holidays. Performs a variety of food service tasks to ensure deliverance of meals/food for patients, cafeteria, and special meetings throughout the health system. One year of food service experience is desirable, but not required. Must have a general knowledge of cooking and using kitchen machines and equipment. High school diploma or equivalent required.

RN Float Nurse

Harlan Rural Health Clinic. Two full-time positions (36 hours per week) available. Works four days Monday through Friday 7:30 am to 5:30 pm; Saturday rotation. Is of prime importance in helping the medical provider respond successfully to the increasing demands for his/her services and will practice within the scope of licensure. Is the essential link between the medical provider and his/her patients, professional associates, and equipment and medical suppliers. Delivers patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Assists in the patient teaching activities and maintains the standards of a professional nurse. Performs various laboratory and radiologic procedures and is responsible for the documentation of the results of these. Must be a graduate of an accredited school of registered nursing (RN) program and currently be licensed in the State of Iowa. Must either be certified in CPR or obtain certification during the first three months of employment.

Pod Nurse (CMA/LPN/RN)

Rural Health Clinic. Two full-time positions (36 hours per week). Works four days per week Monday through Friday 7:30 am to 5:30 pm; plus Saturday rotation. Is of prime importance in helping the medical provider respond successfully to the increasing demands for his/her services and will practice within the scope of licensure. Is the essential link between the medical provider and his/her patients, professional associates, and equipment and medical suppliers. Delivers patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Assists in the patient teaching activities and maintains the standards of a professional nurse. Performs various laboratory and radiologic procedures and is responsible for the documentation of these. Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing program possessing a current Iowa Nursing license or be a graduate of medical assistant training – possessing certification. Must either be certified in CPR or obtain certification during the first three months of employment.

Maintenance Technician I (General)

Petersen Family Wellness Center. Full-time position (36 hours per week). Works Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 3:30 pm. Weekends when needed; hours variable when needed. Is primarily responsible for interior maintenance of the Petersen Family Wellness Center’s building. Performs journeyman level work in the construction, repair, and maintenance of structures such as furniture, equipment, partitions, counters, doors, windows, floors, building framework, and other parts of the hospital. Installs floor coverings such as linoleum and asphalt tile. Cuts Formica and glues it to counter tops. Builds scaffolding and cement forms. May replace glass windows and worn ceiling tiles. Must be knowledgeable and skilled in the maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems in the facility. Works according to diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, and manufacturer’s specifications. Uses hand and power tools and precision measuring and testing instruments. May have minor responsibility for electrical equipment, HVAC, and plumbing system maintenance and repair. Maintains and restores present and new equipment and facilities with the use of paint and other protective materials. Secondary responsibility is to assist other Facilities staff members in performing duties involved in maintaining equipment, machinery, and physical structure of the hospital in good repair and working order. This includes periodic cleaning of Petersen Family Wellness Center’s property, upkeep of hospital grounds, and disposal of and deliveries in the local area. One year general experience in buildings and grounds preferred. Must know how to use common housecleaning devices, and care for equipment. Must be able to drive a vehicle. Must have high school education or equivalent and general maintenance abilities.

Registered Nurse

Emergency Department. One PRN position. Schedule varies. Works 7:00 pm to 7:00 am. Utilizes the nursing process to provide and direct quality patient care. Directs and provides patient/family teaching. Provides leadership when working with health team members in maintaining standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical setting. Previous ER or Med/Surg experience required. Must be a graduate from an approved Professional Nursing program. Must be a Registered Nurse currently licensed in the State of Iowa. BLS and ACLS required. TNCC preferred. PALS preferred. NRB preferred.

ED Tech

Emergency Department. PRN position. Schedule varies according to department needs. Assists the professional nursing staff and ED medical practitioners in providing care to patients in the Emergency Department. Is responsible for performing clerical and receptionist duties and maintaining the physical environment for the area. Performs EKGs. Functions under the direct supervision of an RN. Reports to the ED Nurse Manager. Assists with direct patient care including taking vitals, recording data, relaying pertinent information, and assisting with patient care. Assists with admission, discharge, and transfers. Completion of approved 75-hour Nursing Assistant course and/or successful completion of Nursing Assistant certification written and skills tests or completion of one year of an approved practical nurse program or professional nurse program required.

Patient Accounts Representative

Business Office. Full-time position (38 hours per week). Works Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. Is responsible for all insurance claims processing. Is involved in the billing process and is required to perform all general office functions as well. Must reflect a positive, well-mannered attitude in all contacts. Files all claims in a timely manner to all carriers, making sure they are accurate in every detail. Keeps abreast of all changes in insurance, Medicare, Title XIX, and PPO rules and regulations. Investigates denied claims. Assists patient/family member with questions. Researches and resubmits unpaid claims according to department standards. Makes necessary telephone calls and sends collection letters in accordance with policy. General office and insurance billing experience preferred. High school diploma or equivalent required. Medical billing training would be an asset, but not necessary. Certain certifications may be required.
