Various departments; various shifts. As needed.

Utilizes the nursing process to provide and direct quality patient care in various settings – Med-Surg., Swing Bed, OB, SCU, ER, Outpatient and Perioperative. He/she directs and provides patient/family teaching. The RN provides leadership when working with health team members in maintaining standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical setting.

Current Iowa License or under Governor Kim Reynolds’s State Public Health Emergency proclamation, any licensee who has an inactive Iowa Nursing License for less than 5 years may assist during this emergency. Graduate from an approved professional Nursing Program. Certification in Basic Life Support is required within 3 months of date of hire. Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification is required within 12 months of date of hire. Takes responsibility for pursuit of continuing education.

Environmental Services – Satellite Clinics

Environmental Services Department. Full-time (40 hours/week) position. 5 days/week – Rotating weekends/holidays; 12:00 pm – 8:30 pm; Satellite Clinics – Avoca, Earling, Elk Horn, Shelby

Assumes responsibility for overall cleaning of patient rooms, work areas and public areas according to standards of the hospital. Performs various cleaning duties, sweeps and scrubs floors, cleans restroom facilities, handles trash and recycled items, dusts offices and performs other duties as assigned. Cleans patient and non-patient areas.

Training and experience not required. Hospital will do on-the-job training. Must know how to use common house cleaning devices to keep areas clean. Must know how to care for equipment, how to measure cleaning solutions, and be alert to hazards.

Completion of high school or equivalent preferred.

Certified Medical Coder

Coding Department. Full-time (40 hours/week) position. Monday-Friday; 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.; Remote coding is not available at this time.

Under general supervision, the Certified Professional Coder is responsible for the review, interpretation, coding and abstracting of medical record information according to standard and current classification systems; identifies and applies appropriate diagnoses, procedural, HCPCS and modifier codes to obtain accurate assignment for proper reimbursement and data collection in the inpatient and/or outpatient setting.

Prefer one year of experience in coding inpatient and/or outpatient records with the use of ICD-10-CM, CPT and HCPCS classification systems.

Coding certification is preferred but not required; however candidate is expected to pursue education for certification. Candidate must get credentialed  through AHIMA or AAPC as a CCS, CCS-P, CPC, CCA and CPC-H. Educational assistance opportunities are available to healthcare workers.

RN – Med/Surg – PRN

Medical-Surgical Department. Schedule varies; Days/Nights

The RN provides leadership when working with health team members in maintaining standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical setting.

Current Iowa license required. Graduate from an approved professional Nursing Program. Certification in Basic Life Support is required within 3 months of date of hire. Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification is required within 12 months of date of hire.

Groundskeeper

Maintenance Department. On-call position. 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.; Monday-Friday; Summer

Primary responsible for exterior maintenance of the health system’s buildings and grounds.  Maintains appearance of hospital/facility grounds, to include exterior signage and parking lots.  Waters and mows lawns, rakes leaves, trims shrubs and foliage, plants and fertilizes and cultivates annuals and perennials.  Also primarily responsible for the health systems vehicle/equipment maintenance program, which include trucks/SUVs, bobcats, pallet movers, lawn mowers, blade attachments, etc. Secondary responsibility is to assist other Facilities staff members in performing duties involved in maintaining equipment, machinery, and physical structure of the medical center in good repair and working order. This includes period cleaning of medical center’s property and disposal of trash and waste materials.

Must have high school education and general maintenance abilities. Should have one year general experience in buildings and grounds.

Registered Nurse – Home Health

Home Health Department. Part-time (32 hours/week) position. Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday; 8:00 am – 4:30 pm; Rotate call

The RN utilizes the nursing process to provide and direct quality patient care. The RN provides leadership when working with team members in maintaining standards of professional nursing practice. The RN participates with the interdisciplinary team to develop the plan of care and supports Home Health and hospice philosophies in caring for clients. The RN promotes health and wellness through education, clinical practice and home care for the ill and disabled.

Graduate from an approved professional Nursing Program. Certification in Basic Life Support is required. Experience in acute care setting, home health, or hospice preferred. OASIS knowledge beneficial, knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid rules/regulations.

RN – Perioperative or Surgical Technologist (Scrub Tech)

Perioperative Department. Full-time (36 hours/week) position. Four nine-hour shifts; 7:00 am – 4:30 pm. Four shifts scheduled Monday – Friday + call required

The RN utilizes the nursing process to provide and direct quality patient care in the Perioperative setting. He/she directs and provides patient/family teaching. The RN provides leadership when working with health team member in maintaining standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical setting.

The Surgical Technologist (Scrub Tech) performs a variety of peri-operative duties with limited direct patient care during the pre-operative, intra-operative and post-operative phases under the direct supervision of an RN.

RN – Current Iowa license. Graduate from an approved professional Nursing Program.

Scrub Tech  – Certification of Surgical Technology. Certification in Basic Life Support is required within 3 months of the date of hire.  

Nursing Supervisor

Medical-Surgical Department. On-Call position. Sunday-Saturday; Every third weekend.

Manages nursing activities in the delivery of quality, cost-effective patient care. He/she directs, coordinates and participates in the delivery of patient care. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, staff performance appraisals, staff and scheduling, quality improvement, achievement of departmental goals, and membership on Nurse Management Council.

At least two years of clinical experience in Emergency Department as well as the Medical-Surgical area. Graduate from an approved professional Nursing Program. Current Iowa license. Certification in Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life.  

POD Nurse – Earling Clinic

Rural Health Clinic. Full-time position. CMA/LPN. 4 days/week; Monday, Wednesday, Friday in Earling = 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.  Tuesday in Earling = 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and in the Harlan Clinic 1:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

The Pod Clinic Nurse is of prime importance in helping the medical provider respond successfully to the increasing demands for his/her services. He/she is the essential link between the medical provider and his/her patients, professional associates, and equipment and medical suppliers. She/he delivers patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation.  

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing program possessing a current Iowa Nursing license or graduate of medical assistant training – possessing certification.  Must either be certified in CPR or obtain certification during the first three months of employment.

On-Call Certified Nursing Assistant

Medical/Surgical Unit. Schedule varies; On-call

Assist the professional nursing staff in providing quality patient care. The Med/Surg CNA is responsible for performing a variety of patient care activities including, but not limited to, ADL’s, assessments, documentation, etc., and related health care functions under the direct supervision of an RN or LPN. Reports to the Medical/Surgical Nurse Manager.

No experience required. Completion of approved 75-hour Nursing Assistant Course and/or successful completion of Nursing Assistant Certification written and skills tests or completion of one year of an approved practical nurse program or professional nurse program.
