Perioperative Nurse Manager

Surgery Department. Full-time position (exempt). Works Monday through Friday. Hours vary between 7:00 am and 4:00 pm. Plans, directs, supervises, and manages nursing activities in the delivery of quality, cost-effective patient care in the perioperative areas (operating room, endoscopy, pre-op, Phase II Recovery, and recovery room) and surgery clinic. Coordinates surgery activities and programs with other hospital services and involved physicians. Assumes 24-hour clinical and management responsibility for the perioperative area. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) general operations (patient care, staff, supplies/equipment); policies and procedures; quality improvement/quality assurance activities; member of Nursing Quality Improvement and Nurse Managers teams. Must be a graduate from an approved Professional Nursing program and have current Iowa Nursing license. Baccalaureate degree in nursing preferred. A willingness to pursue this goal is acceptable. Certification in Basic Life Support is required within 3 months of date of hire. Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification is required within 12 months of date of hire. Utilizes and builds upon knowledge acquired through formal education.

Patient Access Specialist

Patient Access – Centralized Scheduling Department. 16 hours per week. Scheduled hours vary between 7:00 am and 6:00 pm. Maintains and updates computer scheduling files. Must be congenial and polite at all times in person and over the phone. Must be familiar with policies regarding scheduling of ancillary test and appointments, maintaining current patient information and records, and maintaining strict confidentiality. Must be familiar with admitting, discharging, insurance forms, confidentiality of patient information and dealing with the general public. General office experience preferred, but not required. Must have a thorough knowledge of the switchboard and filing system, all clinic policies and procedures to clinic office, and hospital scheduling protocol. High school diploma or equivalent required. Secretarial training would be an asset, but not required.

Registered Nurse

Medical/Surgical Department. Multiple positions available. Full-time days (36 hours per week) works 12-hour shifts 7:00 am to 7:00 pm; PRN (as needed). Utilizes the nursing process to provide and direct quality patient care in various settings: Med/Surg, Swing Bed, OB, SCU, ER, Outpatient, and Perioperative. Directs and provides patient/family teaching. Provides leadership when working with health team members in maintaining standards for Professional Nursing practice in the clinical setting. Must be a graduate from an approved Professional Nursing program. Must be a Registered Nurse currently licensed in the State of Iowa. Certification in Basic Life Support is required within 3 months of date of hire. Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification is required within 12 months of date of hire.

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

Medical/Surgical Department. Multiple positions. Part-time days (7:00 am to 7:00 pm), part-time nights (7:00 pm to 7:00 am), on-call, and PRN; weekend/holiday rotation required. Assists the professional nursing staff in providing quality patient care. Is responsible for performing a variety of patient care activities including, but not limited to ADL’s, assessments, documentation, etc, and related health care functions under the direct supervision of an RN or LPN. Reports to the Medical/Surgical Nurse Manager. Completion of an approved 75-hour Nursing Assistant course and/or successful completion of Nursing Assistant Certification written and skills tests or completion of one year of an approved Practical Nursing program or Professional Nurse program required.

Head Cook

Dietary Department. Full-time position (36 hours per week). Works 5:30 am to 2:00 pm OR 10:30 am to 7:00 pm. Generally works four days per week one week and five days per week next week in a pay period. Works every third weekend. Rotates holidays. Prepares, seasons, and cooks meats, fish, fowl, vegetables, and soups for regular and special patient diets, cafeteria service, and special meetings. Apportions servings and performs the other related duties regarding serving, storing, and cleaning up meal service. Keeps accurate records for meal counts and diets served in accordance with prescribed diet. Performs all functions of dietary department as indicated. Serves as the supervisor when the Dietary manager and Dietitian are absent. Helps to manage inventory of food and supplies, maintaining and rotating stock. Commercial operation food service experience is required. Must have knowledge of baking, cooking, and using kitchen machines and equipment. Must be very aware and cautious of maintaining sanitary conditions. High school diploma or equivalent required and have the ability to read clearly, communicate effectively, and be able to follow oral and written directions. Must be willing to attend sanitation and modified diet in-services held in conjunction with regular staff meetings.

Registered Nurse or Surgical Technologist (Scrub Tech)

Perioperative Department. Full-time position (36 hours per week). Works four nine-hour shifts; 7:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday + call required. RN – Utilizes the nursing process to provide and direct quality patient care in the Perioperative setting. Directs and provides patient/family teaching. Provides leadership when working with health team members in maintaining standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical setting. Surgical Technologist (Scrub Tech) – Performs a variety of perioperative duties with limited direct patient care during the pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative phases under the direct supervision of an RN. RN – Performs initial (pre-op admission) and ongoing follow-up assessments with complete and appropriate documentation. Develops plan of care based on nursing diagnoses. RN and/or Scrub Tech – Handles instruments, supplies, and equipment essential to the surgical procedure. Displays understanding of the procedure being performed and anticipates needs of the surgeon. RN – Must be a graduate from an approved Professional Nursing program. Must be currently licensed in the State of Iowa. Scrub Tech – Must be certified in Surgical Technology. Certification in Basic Life Support is required within 3 months of date of hire.

Medical Coder

Medical Records Department. Full-time position (40 hours per week). Works Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. Under general supervision, is responsible for the review, interpretation, coding, and abstracting of medial record information according to standard and current classification systems, identifies and applies appropriate diagnoses, procedural, HCPCS, and modifier codes to obtain accurate assignment for proper reimbursement and data collection in the inpatient and/or outpatient setting. Prefer one year experience in coding inpatient and/or outpatient records with the use of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS classification systems. EPIC experience desired. Coding certification is preferred but not required; however candidate is expected to pursue education for certification. Candidate must get credentialed through AHIMA or AAPC as a CCS, CCS-P, CPC, CCA or CPC-H. Inpatient and ED coding experience desired.

Storekeeper

Materials Management Department. Part-time position (16 hours per week). Works 9:00 am to 1:00 pm Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Assumes responsibility for filling requisitions and delivering to the requesting department. Is responsible for unpacking, verifying, marking, and stocking materials/supplies received. Previous experience preferred but not necessary. Requires general knowledge of accurate record keeping. Requires mental recall of supplies needed and location of same. Minimum of high school education or equivalent required.

Behavioral Health Professional/School-Based Therapist

Behavioral Health Department. Full-time position (40 hours per week). Works Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Will be assigned to the Harlan Community School District and their buildings. Is responsible for providing a comprehensive array of clinical services, including but not limited to assessment, individual and family therapy for students 9th grade through 12th grade. Serves as an active participant in all clinical programs of the department and is responsible for providing a comprehensive array of clinical services delivered at the school including but not limited to: behavioral health evaluation, assessment, individual and family therapy, behavioral health crisis assessment, consultation, and education. Experience equivalent to two years and field experience in a similar setting during educational process. Must be eligible to be licensed in the State of Iowa to practice as an Independently Licensed Mental Health Provider. A Master’s degree in a Human Service field such as Counseling, Social Work, or other mental health related field required.
