Part-time position (16 hours per week). Works 9:00 am to 1:00 pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Assumes responsibility for filling requisitions and delivering to the requesting department. Is responsible for unpacking, verifying, marking, and stocking materials/supplies received. Previous experience preferred but not necessary. Requires general knowledge of accurate recordkeeping. Requires mental recall of supplies needed and location of same. Minimum of a high school education or equivalent required.
Full-time position (36 hours per week); works 12-hour night shifts. Assists the professional nursing staff in providing quality patient care. Is responsible for performing a variety of patient care activities including, but not limited to ADLs, assessments, documentation, etc and related health care functions under the direct supervision of an RN or LPN. Reports to the Medical/Surgical Nurse Manager. No experience required. Completion of an approved 75-hour Nursing Assistant course and/or successful completion of Nursing Assistant Certification written and skills test or completion of one year of an approved practical nurse program or professional nurse program required.
Full-time position (36 hours per week). Works four 9-hour shifts, various days/hours Sunday through Saturday 6:00 am to 8:00 pm.
Performs various waived or moderate complexity testing in hematology, coagulation, chemistry, microbiology, blood banking, immunology, and urinalysis. Receives or obtains specimens for laboratory analysis and prepares specimens for reference laboratory. Responsible for specimen processing, test performance, and reporting of results. Assists in the clerical duties of the lab and assists the medical technologists. Follows Universal Precautions and Infection Control policies. No experience necessary. Completion of high school or equivalent preferred and documentation of training appropriate for the testing performed prior to analyzing patient specimens. Basic computer knowledge preferred.
Part-time position (24 hours per week). Flexible schedule. Provides support to the Marketing Director in promoting the brand of the Medical Center. Establishes and maintains a consistent corporate image throughout all promotional materials. Responsible for managing the Medical Center’s social media presence and website content. Undertakes a range of internal and external communications using a variety of marketing channels and assigned projects; including but not limited to, marketing team support, design and layout, etc. Helps with the organization of various social events sponsored by the Hospital.
Marketing/communication work experience in a healthcare setting preferred. InDesign, Photoshop, Publisher experience preferred. Knowledge of media relations, including standard practice in the dissemination of information and coordination of story development. Excellent written and communication skills required. Time management and problem solving skills and demonstrated ability to apply these in various situations.
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communication, journalism or equivalent preferred.
Dietary Department. On-call Position. 2-3 shifts each week; 4:30 pm – 7:30 pm. Occasional 8 hour shifts Saturday and Sunday; Rotating holidays as needed
Performs a variety of food service tasks to ensure deliverance of meals/food for patients, cafeteria, and special meetings throughout the health system. He/she adheres to the mission of Myrtue Medical Center in all aspects of job performance.
One year of food service experience is desirable, but not required. General knowledge of using kitchen machines and equipment is preferred.
Completion of high school or equivalent preferred. Will accept current high school students.
Environmental Services Department
On-call position. Works as needed, rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays various days Sunday through Saturday. Assumes responsibility for overall cleaning of patient rooms, work areas and public areas according to standards of the hospital. May be required to sort and/or transport laundry. Successful completion of the work on a regular basis would result in a clean, safe and attractive environment which is conducive to the recovery of ill patients and contributes positively to staff morale and the public relations of the hospital. Training and experience not required. Hospital will provide on-the-job training. Must know how to use common house cleaning devices to keep areas clean. Must know how to care for equipment, how to measure cleaning solutions, and be alert to hazards. Completion of high school or equivalent preferred.
Behavioral Health. Full-time (40 hours/week) position. Monday-Friday; Flexible scheduling
The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner is responsible for providing medication evaluations as needed, prescription medication checks and review as needed, and consultation with other mental health center staff as needed. She/he will evaluate and prescribe appropriate medications based on all aspects of client including age, mental health/addiction disorder, health condition and response to medication. Practitioner will complete prescriptions accurately both electronically and handwritten. Practitioner is responsible for outpatient services as needed, emergency services as needed, evaluation services as necessary, consultation and education. He/she shall consult with psychiatrists on staff on cases that may require additional review. The Practitioner is responsible for ordering laboratory and other diagnostic studies as necessary to safely prescribe and monitor medications and shall consult with the client’s family physician and other treating physicians as necessary to provide a coordinated service. She/he is responsible for undertaking individual psychotherapy, marital therapy, family and group counseling, play therapy and other therapy techniques within the scope of the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner’s training. He/she is responsible for undertaking inpatient consultations as requested by physicians at Myrtue Medical Center and other hospitals within the catchment area.
Five years experience preferred.
Hold Master of Science degree in psychiatric nursing or its equivalent, with certification as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner in the area of psychiatric nursing. Hold a current Iowa license to practice as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner and to prescribe medications. Hold federal and state DEA certificates as necessary to prescribe medication. Maintain staff privileges at Myrtue Medical Center and any other hospitals necessary within the catchment area.
Behavioral Health Department. Full-time (40 hrs/week) position. Monday-Friday; 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
The Mental Health School-based Therapist (Grade 6-8) will be assigned to the Harlan Community School District and its buildings. This position is responsible for providing a comprehensive array of clinical services, including but not limited to assessment, individual and family therapy for students 6th through 8th grade. The Mental Health School-based Therapist serves as an active participant in all clinical programs of the department and is responsible for providing a comprehensive array of clinical services delivered at the school including but not limited to; behavioral health evaluation, assessment, individual and family therapy, behavioral health crisis assessment, consultation and education. The right candidate will have a heart for children with some training in play therapy and TFCBT.
Experience equivalent to two years and field experience in a similar setting during educational process. Eligible to be licensed in the state of Iowa to practice as an LMHC, LISW or MFT.
A Masters degree in Human Service field such as Counseling, Social Work or other mental health related field.
Behavioral Health Department. Part-time (20 hours/week) position. Tuesday (8 am-12 pm), Wednesday (8 am – 5 pm), Friday; (8 am – 4 pm)
The Behavioral Health Patient Care Specialist (PCS) is of prime importance in helping the behavioral health medical provider respond successfully to the increasing demands for his/her services. He/she is the essential link between the behavioral health medical provider and his/her clients, as well as other professional associates. She/he delivers client care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. The Behavioral Health PCS assists in the client teaching activities and maintains the standards of a professional PCS. The PCS also assists with the overall operations of the Behavioral Health Department. The PCS will be responsible for communication and negotiation with various insurance companies for pre-authorizations purposes. He/she assists the office staff when needed to ensure the continuity of the business functions.
Behavioral Health experience is preferred.
High school diploma or equivalent. Graduate of medical assistant training, possessing certification preferred. Medical Assistant are required to receive 13 CEUs per year or a total of 65/5 years within 6 months of hire.
Environmental Services. Two part-time (24 hours/week) positions. Works three days/week; 5:30 am – 2:00 pm. Rotating weekends/holidays.
