Summer Intern – Registered Nurse

Medical/Surgical Department. Paid internship. Full-time position (36 hours per week) for 8 weeks. Works 12-hour shifts; rotating shifts. The Nursing Intern is for students currently enrolled in an accredited RN program who have completed a Fundamentals of Nursing or Med Surg course. The Nursing Intern observes clinical procedures and provides patient care for assigned patients under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse, not to exceed the duties of unlicensed assistive personnel. Provides support to other health care team members. May perform technical tasks per unit competency validation. However, Nursing Interns are restricted from performing any licensed tasks. Must be currently enrolled in a Registered Nurse program. Must possess technical skills and knowledge of equipment mechanisms necessary to deliver quality nursing care. Certification in Basic Life Support required.

Pod Nurse (CMA/LPN/RN)

Harlan Rural Health Clinic. Full-time position (36 hours per week). Works four days 7:30 am to 5:30 pm; Saturday rotation. Is of prime importance in helping the medical provider respond successfully to the increasing demands for his/her services and will practice within the scope of licensure. Is the essential link between the medical provider and his/her patients, professional associates, and equipment suppliers. Delivers patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Assists in the patient teaching activities and maintains the standards of a professional nurse. Performs various laboratory and radiologic procedures and is responsible for the documentation of these. Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing program possessing a current Iowa Nursing license or be a graduate of medical assistant training – possessing certification. Must either be certified in CPR or obtain certification during the first three months of employment.

ER Tech

Emergency Department. One full-time position (40 hours per week). One full-time position works 7:00am to 7:00pm OR 7:00pm to 7:00am. One part-time position (16-20 hours per week). Works every third weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) 11:00am to 11:00pm OR 11:00pm to 7:00am. Two on-call positions (12 hours per week); schedule varies – works 7:00am to 7:00pm OR 7:00pm to 7:00am. Assists the Professional Nursing staff and ED medical practitioners in providing care to patients in the Emergency Department. Is responsible for performing clerical and receptionist duties and maintaining the physical environment for the area. Performs EKGs. Functions under the direct supervision of an RN. Reports to the ED Nurse Manger. Completion of approved 75-hour Nursing Assistant course and/or successful completion of Nursing Assistant certification written and skills tests or completion of one year of an approved practical nurse program or professional nurse program required.
