Rural Health Clinic. Full-time position (36 hours per week/four days per week). Works Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday 7:30 am to 5:30 pm; Saturday rotation in addition. Prioritizes patient appointments for medical practitioners’ schedules. Utilizes critical judgment to coordinate with practitioner and clinical staff members for patient access. Will practice within the scope of licensure. Obtains medical histories from patients/families/significant others/nursing homes/etc and triages necessity and priority of patient placement with practitioner’s schedule. Records briefly in chart. Communicates with schedulers and medical practitioner’s pod in scheduling appointments. Applies knowledge of illnesses, injuries and diseases, using available resources in the assessment process. Assesses patient’s problems on the phone, triages calls, discusses with medical practitioner/nursing staff and returns calls. Aides in the assessment of physical, psychological, and social dimensions of patients. One year in previous clinical position preferred. Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing program possessing a current Iowa Nursing license. Must either be certified in CPR or obtain certification during the first three months of employment.
