Maintenance Tech I or II

Maintenance Department. Full-time position (40 hours per week). Works Monday through Friday. Scheduled hours vary from 6:00 am to 5:30 pm. On-call rotation consists of daily rotation equaling approximately 7-8 days per month including one weekend per month. Holiday rotation. Maintenance Tech I is primarily responsible for interior maintenance of the medical center’s buildings. Performs work in the construction, repair, and maintenance of structures. Examples are: flooring, paint, tile, cabinets, counter tops, framing, and drywall. Has some knowledge and skills in the maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems within the facility. Works according to prints and/or sketches, operations manuals and manufacturer’s specifications. Uses hand tools, power tools, precision measuring and testing equipment. Secondary responsibility is to assist other facilities staff members in performing duties involved in maintaining equipment, machinery, and physical structure of the hospital. This includes periodic cleaning of medical center’s property, upkeep of grounds, and disposal of trash and waste materials, and driving a vehicle to make pick-ups and deliveries in the local area. Rotates on-call responsibilities with other facilities staff members. Often functions as a helper to more highly skilled maintenance personnel. Maintenance Tech II has the primary responsibility for the medical center’s equipment that supplies heat, air conditioning, water, plumbing, compressed air, vacuum, electricity, and refrigeration. Performs specialized maintenance and repair and is responsible for the preventative maintenance of said systems throughout the facility. Operates at a Journeyman level with a license or equivalent experience working under a journeyman. Maintenance Tech II works with the Maintenance Tech I to complete construction projects throughout the facility. Secondary responsibility is to assist all other facilities staff members in performing duties involved in maintaining hospital owned and operated equipment, machinery, and physical structure of hospital. Maintenance Tech I should have one to four years general experience in building construction, repairs, and grounds. Maintenance Tech II preferred to have four years general experience in commercial and/or industrial boilers, plumbing, HVAC, and hydronic systems. Experience in commercial construction also a plus. Must be able to drive a vehicle. Must know how to use common cleaning devices and demonstrates care for equipment. Alternates holidays and weekends. Requires being on-call on alternate weeks. Overtime may be required. Some switching of hours may be required. Must maintain a valid state-issued driver’s license. High school education and general maintenance abilities required.
