Director of Quality and Risk Management and Compliance Officer

Full-time exempt position (40 hours per week). Is a Registered Nurse responsible for the coordination of hospital-wide quality improvement (QI), patient safety, risk management, and compliance programs, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. Through audits and tracking, coordinates risk mitigation, and performance improvement activities based on research of evidence-based best practices. Encourages an atmosphere of teamwork. Investigates event reports, patient complaints, and patient care issues. Coordinates and tracks follow-up activities as directed by the Medical Staff, Administration, and Board of Trustees. Reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer. Functional knowledge of quality, risk management, and compliance required. Must be familiar with CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services) hospital inpatient, outpatient, electronic clinical quality measures, and reporting requirements. Must be familiar with the Quality Payment Program (QPP). Previous experience working with CMS Hospital Quality Improvement Contractor (HQIC) such as the COMPASS Network. Previous experience with quality, risk management, or compliance a plus. Five years of clinical nursing practice and managerial experience preferred. Claims management experience preferred. Previous work with reports, graphs, and interpretation of statistical data preferred. Must have strong computer and research skills. Must have current Iowa Registered Nurse license.
