Rural Health Clinic. Full-time position. Works 7:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.; Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday; Saturday rotation.
The Float Nurse is the essential link between the medical provider and his/her patients, professional associates, and equipment and medical suppliers. Delivers patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. Organizes the workload and assists the medical provider in order of priority with many interruptions. Competent within scope of practice for care of all ages of patients (infants, pediatric, adult, geriatric). Applies knowledge of illnesses, injuries and diseases, using available resources in the assessment process. Assess patient’s problems on the phone, triages calls, discusses with medical provider and returns calls. Aides in assessment of physical, psychological, and social dimensions of patients. Documents nursing intervention, patient response, effectiveness, complications, etc. Communicates information to peers, supervisor, medical providers.
No clinical experience required other than during the formal education process. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing program possessing a current Iowa Nursing license or graduate of medical assistant training – possessing certification.
