On-Call Certified Nursing Assistant

Medical/Surgical Unit. Schedule varies; On-call

Assist the professional nursing staff in providing quality patient care. The Med/Surg CNA is responsible for performing a variety of patient care activities including, but not limited to, ADL’s, assessments, documentation, etc., and related health care functions under the direct supervision of an RN or LPN. Reports to the Medical/Surgical Nurse Manager.

No experience required. Completion of approved 75-hour Nursing Assistant Course and/or successful completion of Nursing Assistant Certification written and skills tests or completion of one year of an approved practical nurse program or professional nurse program.

RN – Medical/Surgical – Night Shift

Medical/Surgical Dept. Part-time (24 hours/week) position and Full-time (36 hours/week) position. Starting wage – $29/hr; compensated for years of experience.

Utilizes the nursing process to provide and direct quality patient care in various settings – Med-Surg., Swing Bed, OB, SCU, ER, Outpatient and Perioperative. He/she directs and provides patient/family teaching. The RN provides leadership when working with health team members in maintaining standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical setting.

Current Iowa license. Graduate from an approved professional Nursing Program. Certification in Basic Life Support is required within 3 months of date of hire. Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification is required within 12 months of date of hire. Takes responsibility for pursuit of continuing education.  

Environmental Services Staff

Environmental Services. On-call position. Rotating shifts, weekends and holidays as needed; 2nd shift; Sunday-Saturday.

Assumes responsibility for overall cleaning of patient rooms, work areas and public areas according to standards of the hospital. He/she may be required to sort and/or transport laundry. Successful completion of the work on a regular basis would result in a clean, safe and attractive environment which is conducive to the recovery of ill patients and contributes positively to staff morale and the public relations of the hospital.

Training and experience not required. Hospital will do on-the-job training. Completion of high school or equivalent preferred.

RN – Charge Nurse

Med/Surg Department. Full-time (36 hours/week) position. 7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.; Sunday-Saturday.

Responsible for planning, directing, supervising, and managing nursing activities in the delivery of quality, cost-effective patient care in the Medical/Surgical inpatient, outpatient, SNF, and SCU areas. He/she coordinates Med/Surg inpatient, outpatient, SNF, and SCU activities and programs with other hospital services and involved physicians. He/she assumes shift clinical and management responsibility for the Med/Surg inpatient, outpatient, SNF, and SCU areas. Responsibilities include but are not limited to policies and procedures; quality improvement/quality assurance activities, and membership in committees as assigned.

At least one year experience including Medical-Surgical and SCU. Possesses technical skills and knowledge of equipment mechanisms necessary to deliver quality nursing care. Current Iowa license. Graduate from an approved professional Nursing Program. Current certification in Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support for RNs. Utilizes and builds upon knowledge acquired through formal education. Takes responsibility for pursuit of continuing education.  

Mental Health Therapist (School-based PreK to 5th grade)

Behavioral Health. Full-time (40 hours/week) position. Monday-Friday; 7:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Potential job start date: May 2020

The Mental Health School-based Therapist (Pre-K through 5th Grade) will be assigned to the Harlan Community School District and Shelby County Catholic Schools and their buildings. This position is responsible for providing a comprehensive array of clinical services, including but not limited to assessment, individual and family therapy for students Pre-K through 5th grade. The Mental Health School-based Therapist  serves as an active participant in all clinical programs of the department and is responsible for providing a comprehensive array of clinical services delivered at the school including but not limited to; behavioral health evaluation, assessment,  individual and family therapy, behavioral health crisis assessment, consultation and education. The right candidate will have a heart for children with some training in play therapy and TFCBT.

Experience equivalent to two years and field experience in a similar setting during educational process. Eligible to be licensed in the state of Iowa to practice as an LMHC, LISW or MFT. A Masters degree in Human Service field such as Counseling, Social Work or other mental health related field.   

RN – Medical/Surgical – Day Shift

Medical/Surgical Department. Full-time (36 hours/week) position and Part-time (24 hours/week) position. 12-hour shifts.

Utilizes the nursing process to provide and direct quality patient care in various settings – Med-Surg., Swing Bed, OB, SCU, ER, Outpatient and Perioperative. He/she directs and provides patient/family teaching. The RN provides leadership when working with health team members in maintaining standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical setting.

Current Iowa license. Graduate from an approved professional Nursing Program. Certification in Basic Life Support is required within 3 months of date of hire. Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification is required within 12 months of date of hire. Takes responsibility for pursuit of continuing education.  

RN – Emergency

Emergency Department. Part-time (20 hours/week) position. Every third weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) 7:00 p.m.-7:00 a.m.; Monday-Thursday – 7:00 p.m.-11:00 p.m.

Utilizes the nursing process to provide and direct quality patient care. He/she directs and provides patient/family teaching. The RN provides leadership when working with health team members in maintaining standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical setting.

Previous ER or Med/Surg experience required. Current Iowa license. Graduate from an approved professional Nursing Program  BLS and ACLS required.  TNCC preferred.  PALS preferred.  NRB preferred. Takes responsibility for pursuit of continuing education.

Clinical IT Analyst

Information Systems. Part-time (20 hours/week) position. Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

The Clinical IT Analyst provides a high level of technical support (development, testing, integration and implementation) of applications and interfaces which deliver IT tools and support business functions across the health system using the Epic system. The Clinical IT Analyst performs project management requirements definitions, systems design, analysis, and problem resolution and vendor coordination. The Clinical IT Analyst develops and implements training pertaining to the staff use of Epic clinical systems, participates as an active and integral member of the clinical informatics team and maintains the established standards of care and practice through direct patient care, clinical systems improvement activities and staff education.

Minimum of five years experience as an RN in a hospital setting required. Minimum of two years of health care application in an IT setting is beneficial. Experience with data analysis, data management associated with systems evaluation, clinical research and analysis tools required. Current Iowa RN license is required.

Lifeguard (Multiple Positions)

Petersen Family Wellness Center. On-call position; Evenings/Nights/Weekends.

Responsible for the health, safety, and welfare of those using the Petersen Family Wellness Center aquatic center. Prevent and respond to emergencies. Enforce rules and regulations of the Aquatic Center. Current Lifeguard Certification required. The next certification class will be held in Spring 2020.
